Translators

Translators are compact, low cost devices that can be easily installed on an equipment shelf at the customer's premises or at the local telephone company's central office. The Translators are linked to the 5ESSŪ Switch via an ISDN line. They manage various systems for more effective telephone usage on a campus, business or other locations.

Micro-Electronic Directory Services (MEDS)

Micro-Electronic Directory Services (MEDS) is an ISDN service of the 5ESSŪ Switch. MEDS saves costs by making telecommunications faster, easier, and more user friendly MEDS, allows users to reference names rather than directory numbers. Calling Name Display (CND) feature shows who's calling even when calls are forwarded. The Directory Query Display (DQD) feature allows a user to look up a telephone number based on a name, with as little to go on as initials or the first few letters of the last name. Once the MEDS makes a match, the user can press the Autocall button on the set and automatically call that person.

MEDS allows a business to eliminate the cost of paper directories. MEDS is always up-to-date and available to each display telephone user in the company. It provides quick and accurate information for increased productivity and call control.

Message Detail Recording Translator Plus/Jr. (MDR Plus & MDR Jr.)

The MDR Translator helps companies effectively manage telephone usage by translating message detail records from the 5ESSŪ Switch to their main frame or personal computer Call Accounting Software (CAS). The MDR Jr. Translator supports smaller business customers with less than 200 lines. The MDR Plus is aimed at larger customers, limited only by call volume. Both translators provide a versatile, self-diagnosing interface between an ISDN Application Processor Interface (API) line and the premise-based reporting CAS.

An estimated 10,000 to 20,000 real time records per hour can be processed, depending on message type and output baud rate. Both Translators provide message buffering and translation of Data Call MDRs.

3A Simplified Message Service Interface (SMSI) Translator

The 3A Simplified Message Service Interface Translator interfaces with the 5ESSŪ Switch to provide a voice-messaging system. It receives messages from the 5ESSŪ Switch through the ISDN D-channel and translates them into standard SMSI messages. The 3A SMSI Translator supports a wide range of voice messaging systems.

Property Management Interface Translator (PMIT)

The Property Management Interface Translator (PMIT) builds on digital Centrex capabilities to provide highly reliable, economical, and technologically advanced hospitality-management services for hotels, motels, hospitals, universities, conference centers or any other multi-room facility or campus like site.

The PMIT interfaces with the customer's on-premise Property Management System (PMS) to process house-keeping and reservation information in order to provide a variety of services, including maid status, message waiting, direct-dialed billing and more.

The PMIT saves floor space and money, eliminates maintenance for customers, increases reliability, improves billing accuracy and allows for flexible growth.
