Crossbar's principals are among the most experienced and skilled
individuals in the field of information security.
Mark Abene, President, has over 15 years experience in the field of information and
computer security, first as a celebrated computer hacker while
still a teenager, and later as an industry professional. He has
devoted much of his life to understanding all aspects of computer
technology, particularly with respect to security weaknesses and
their causes. Mark has been written about and quoted on the subject
of security in publications such as the New York Times, the Wall
St. Journal, and Time Magazine. He has written numerous articles
which have been published in journals such as Network Computing
magazine, and is a regular featured guest on "Off the Hook," a
weekly radio show about the telecommunications industry which
is broadcast on WBAI (New York City). His past clientele include
American Express, TIAA-CREF, Sun Microsystems, Motorola, IBM,
USA Networks, PFM Communications, Radical Media, Echo Communications
and the Internet Channel. He most recently worked as a consultant
for Ernst & Young LLP in their New York Information Security and
Audit Services (ISAAS) group.
David Buchwald, Vice President, has also been involved in computer security for over 15 years.
David is a former teenage computer hacker whose first job was
with the Private Investigations firm of Harper Associates. While
at Harper, he created and supervised the use of a computerized
database for conducting and tracking research for intellectual
property and trademark infringement investigations on behalf of
companies and organizations such as the Recording Industry Association
of America (RIAA), the Motion Picture Association (MPA), Rolex,
Gucci, Levi's, Calvin Klein, Disney, and Warner Brothers. David
also helped to launch MindVox, which was the first Internet Service
Provider in New York City, and worked for Evolution Online Systems,
a software development and technology consulting company, as the
system administrator. He previously worked as an independent consultant
for Ernst & Young LLP in the New York Information Security and
Audit Services (ISAAS) group.
Andrew Brown, Vice President, not surprisingly, also has over 15 years of experience with computers
and computer security. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Computer
Science from NYU and left before completing a Ph.D. He has performed
database administration functions for Scholastic, Inc. and has
developed and implemented secure environments for several of New
York's on-line communities, including Echo, Webbed Communications,
and the Internet Channel (INCH). In addition, he designed and
developed a suite of administration tools for INCH. His work includes
several tiger team penetrations, secure code reviews, and development
of custom credit card processing systems and custom secure applications
for several large clients. His most recent clients include TIAA-CREF,
Time-Warner, Merrill Lynch, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and a host of
telecommunications companies, credit card corporations and banks.
Andrew has a long standing history of technical contributions
to committees and projects involving Internet architecture and
engineering.
