3. Once you get the backlight wires disconnected, you
need to desolder the antenna pin from its connector on the board. First
lay the desoldering braid across the solder, and then apply the iron to
the braid, right over the connection, with gentle pressure. The solder
should seep into the braid. Repeat this as many times as you need to, in
order to get all of the solder off.
Watch out! The desoldering braid will get warm, or even hot.
Now the board is almost completely loose. In order to
get the board out of the casing, you will need to squash/remove the plastic
pin (located on the lower right of the above photo) to get the board out
without breaking it.
4. Now that you have the board out, let's take a look
at the discriminator chip.
This is the top of the board. Flip it over, and....
Let's take a closer look at that solitary IC on the upper
half of the board.
It's the discriminator chip! Now, let's get moving here...
