Prepare for the Future with Our Location Routing Number Solution

Photo Its more than just a state and federal mandate. It's something your customers have said they want and are willing to pay for. It's called number portability - and Lucent Technologies offers you a means to turn it into a revenue generator that keeps your customers satisfied.

Number portability allows customers to keep their existing phone numbers even when they move to another local Service Provider and/or when they move within the same rate center. Lucent's solution, called Location Routing Number (LRN), meets all criteria set by the Federal Communications Commission, and enables you to:

  • Meet Federal and State number portability requirements.
  • Move into new markets.
  • Expand your revenue -generating service offerings.
  • Potentially expand your customer base.

Easy Integration into Your Existing Network

The LRN architecture is contained within the current 5ESS®-2000 Switch software. Because it requires no new hardware, LRN can be smoothly and efficiently integrated into your network, especially if you are in the process of modernizing or consolidating.

To ease implementation, LRN functionality also has been designed into our supporting network elements, such as Advanced Network Services (ANS), Operator Services and Public Safety products.

Three Types of Portability

Photo2 Our comprehensive LRN solution covers all the necessary number portability components, enabling you to meet the following portability requirements:

  • Service Provider Portability - Subscribers can change their local telephone supplier.
  • Location/Geographic Portability - Subscribers can change their physical locations and retain their numbers.
  • Service Portability - Subscribers can change calling services , for example to ISDN, and retain their numbers.

The Lucent Advantage

With our unique experience and leadership in the switching industry, we can help you not only comply with number portability requirements, but also help you turn this regulation into a business advantage, one that enables you to meet your customers' needs while generating new revenue for your business.
