The 5ESS®-2000 Switch's robust remoting capabilities allow it to extend telecommunications far beyond boundaries traditionally served by an exchange. A wide selection of remote units can support both analogue and digital services in any combination desired and typically provide the same set of advanced features available on their host 5ESS®-2000 Switches. Both wired line and radio-linked remoting alternatives are available to meet the network operator's need for rapidly deployable, robust service capabilities. Benefits include:
- Economical deployment of advanced digital services for outlying and rural areas; metropolitan areas (especially where cable duct capacity has been exhausted); and outside plant modernization projects (by maintaining short loops to help reduce costs)
Containerized Exchanges
To meet rapid deployment needs, the 5ESS®-2000 Switch is available in a range of standard configurations and containerized exchanges. Containerized exchanges provide a self-contained, dust-free environment for the switch that meets or exceeds applicable ISO standards. Not only does this provide fast delivery of switches configured and tested for use in a particular type or size of exchange, but it also allows prompt service recovery in emergency situations. In addition, it offers economical and convenient provision of service for temporary exchange "relief" when replacing analogue switches, and for planned events such as major sports competitions.
