TCAP (Transaction Capability Application Part) refinements in 5E11 software enable a remote switching modules to be located in a different Local Access Transport Area (LATA) than the host switch. This can expand networks in a cost effective manner using remote switching modules where previously this may not have been feasible.

Combined with the 5ESS®-2000 Switch's ability to locate remotes with up to 20,000 lines as far as 600 miles from the host switch, service providers now have almost unlimited network configuration flexibility via the 5E11 software release. Each feature within a software release gives new possibilities to enhance capabilities of a 5ESS®-2000 Switch.
