Dispatching a craftsperson, for what ever the reason, is a major expense for telephony service providers. Using new features available only on the 5E11 Software, this cost burden can be dramatically reduced. Automatic Power Recovery Phase II enables complete automatic power recovery of the 5ESS®-2000 Switch, slashing downtime from a possible six hours to minutes with no need for a craftsperson to visit the site.

Parallel Update Activate makes it quicker and easier to administer software updates. This feature provides greater efficiencies to service providers.

Another drain of craftsperson resources is the manual entry of a multi-digit number, called a service profile identifier or SPID, into each new ISDN data terminal device or on any new line when ISDN lines have been moved. With 5E11 software, the feature called Automatic SPID Download, makes this procedure automatic through the switch completely downloading the assigned numbers. This delivers greater efficiency and cost savings when provisioning ISDN (Integrated Service Digital Network). This one feature alone will significantly reduce the volume of customer calls to fix incorrectly entered ISDN codes, since ISDN is especially used by Internet web browsers.
