When I first got into phreaking, the first thing I built was a beigebox. It takes about 5 minutes
to make and is fun. Now if you are a newbie or just want to know what a beige box is then I will
tell you. It is a linemen's handset. If you don't know what that is then quit reading this file 
right now. The purpose of a beige box is a fun with a little modification done to it. Basically 
the mod plug is cut of and alligator clips are put on the red and green wires(or all 4). What 
this allows you to do is to have access to other people's phone lines. You can listen, make 
calls, whatever. The box you need to do this is called a TNI box or telephone network interphase
box. It should be a small grey box located behind or on the side of your house. Now where I 
live the TNI boxes are different because they are older. They are the ones that are talked 
about in all the other beige boxing textfiles. Once you pop them open you should see five 
screws. Like so:

Now a lot of people say just attach the red and green alligator clips to the red and green 
screws. On my box though there is no red and green wires leading to screws. You just have to 
experiment a little bit. On the newer TNI boxes with customer and repair sides all you have to 
do is plug in a mod plug and your set.

What is the purpose?

There are many things to do. You can listen to your neighbors calls even though the chance 
isn't that great that when you decide to go beige boxing your neighbor is on the phone. Off 
course the most obvious thing to do is make as many calls as you want to where ever. The first 
thing I do when I go to a new box is call a ANAC up and get their ANI so I can call there house 
to see if they are home or awake just before I go. I mean it is cool beige boxing whenever but
when the people come outside and see what you are doing then that ruins the whole mood. I 
prepared a little list of things you should have in your field phreaking/beige boxing kit.

<> Flashlight- small penlight works great
<> Pocket knife
<> All purpose tool
<> Small notebook for #'s/Pen
<> Fuck a duffelbag. Why would you want to carry a big bag around. I discovered the best thing 
to use is a fuckin fanny pack. It straps right around your waste and is easily accessible.  
<> And don't forget your Beige box dumbass


Now people say when to go and not to but I really don't care. One piece of advice though is if 
something feels like a bad idea or just doesn't feel right then don't say fuck it and do it 
anyway. This can save your ass from having to go to juvenile court. That's it from me this time.
