Each LSM has up to 128 individual subscriber lines, or Line circuits (LIC). Each Line Switch Module contains a Time Switch for Subscriber switching and Inter-LSM Call Handling and Transfer (Not shown) and A Junctor Circuit to interface it to the Time Switching Bus (Also Not Shown). Also not shown are the optional Subsystems, and the external maintennance/ access Terminal. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | TIME SWICHING BUS | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | | ||||||||||||||| |||||||| +---+---+---+---+---+ +-------------+ +-----------------+ //////// | L | L | L | L | L | | | | | OPTIONAL | S | S | S | S | S | | TSS | | CHS | SUBSYSTEMS | M | M | M | M | M | +-------------+ | | | | | | | | |TRUNK XLATION| | | +---+---+---+---+---+ +-------------+ +-----------------+ ||| || || ||| || || ||| || || LIC's---> || || || | ||<--+-->|| || | || IT | OT | TRUNKS (INCOMING AND OUTGOING) Far be it from me to badmouth the Almighty LOD, but that AXE10 description left a lot to be desired. Hopefully, this diagram should give a clearer picture when used alongside the original file. Any errors on my behalf are understandable : AXE10's aren't my favourite switches, UXD5b's on the other hand...
