Interoperability
Test Process

The following process is used for a vendor to test their equipment with the 5ESS® Switch in the FIVE Facility. First the vendor contacts one of the following FIVE Facility engineers depending on what product is to be tested:

National and Custom BRI (Basic Rate Interface) ISDN Products
J. Paulson (620) 979-8590

National or Custom PRI (Primary Rate Interface) ISDN Products
T. Cooney (630) 224-6118

TR303 Remote Terminal products F. Wilson (630) 224-7278

These individuals will then mail a contract and a questionnaire. A signed contract and a completed questionnaire are required before testing can be scheduled. The contract protects both Lucent Technologies and the vendor under test. The questionnaire inquires what capabilities the vendor supports. Every capability a vendor supports will be tested and the test results published.

The next step is to schedule a test session. The testing is performed and the test results are made available for public viewing and access. There are only four types of test results for each capability:

Passed - Vendor passed the test
Failed - Vendor did not pass the test
In Progress - Vendor is still testing
Not Supported - Vendor does not support this capability on the device being tested. This is ascertained from the questionnaire.
Vendors are allowed to comment on each test that failed. To view the test results of vendors that have already completed testing go to Interoperability Test Results.
