Advanced Services Platform (ASP)

Lucent Technologies' Advanced Services Platform (ASP) provides robust, service-independent Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) central office switch software, thereby making a multi-vendor network architecture possible. Thanks to ASP, available on both the 5ESS®-2000 Switch and the 1A ESS™ Switch, services that once took years to be developed can now be delivered in months or even weeks.

ASP gives network providers the ability to create, deploy, and change services as they see fit. It enables providers to immediately respond to customer requirements for specific services throughout their network. ASP positions Lucent Technologies as the premier switching vendor in the industry for offering AIN services.

Product Description

ASP software allows the switch to act as an AIN Service Switching Point (SSP) in order to communicate with external databases known as Service Control Points (SCP), and/or switch adjuncts known as Intelligent Peripherals (IP). The SCPs/IPs are then able to direct call processing on the switch. ASP software offers:

AIN Software Releases

ASP software is based on the Bellcore AIN 0.1 standard open interface (TR-1284, Issue 1 and TR-1285, Issue 1) and supports the AIN 0.0 protocol to allow backward compatibility. 5ESS®-2000 Switch ASP is now providing additional functionality based on Bellcore’s new AIN software requirements (GR-1298, GR-1299, and GR-1129, formerly referred to as AIN 0.2). ASP continues to evolve as the Intelligent Network evolves. Further development is now underway which will provide even more functionality based on AIN software requirements.
