Several OSPS (Operator Services Position System) feature enhancements reduce Directory Assistance operator need and improve efficiency, thus providing the potential for saving millions of dollars per year for large service providers. The features are called Automated Directory Assistance System and Record and Playback.

Automated Directory Assistance (ADAS) which records and forwards a called request to an operator. ADAS uses automatic speed recognition technology to determine the specific community, city or town and ultimately the desired listing name or place. This enables Directory Assistance operators to handle more complex inquiries in a faster manner. Record and Playback is designed to increase productivity of operators by providing prompting announcements for Listing Services, recording responses and playback to the operator with speech compression and silence removal. Like ADAS, Record and Playback has the potential to give efficiency and thus save operations costs.
