W-E-B-S-I-T-E--D-E-F-A-C-E-M-E-N-T-S--A--R-E-S-P-O-N-S-E ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Hey, Here's An Idea. In Response To Page Defacements. - - by: TheHex - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - I first recieved this idea on the prohacktive meta threads. One of - - the moderators, known as henchman brought this up during a discussion - - about webpage defacements. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - In my personal opinion and in several others, I think the main reason - - that so many website defacements occur is because of the media, and - - popularity gained from it. - - The question that was brought up was "would there be less defacements - - if underground sites stopped mirroring them?" In my opinion this is a - - very very good question. First I want to start with saying that this - - article is not saying who is right or wrong, I am only saying what I - - think, and how what I think might lower the defacement rate. - - Personally I don't think that someone should deface a site unless it - - is 1. containing child pornography, or other pedo material, or 2. - - hate groups, expression of hate or anger towards a minority group. - - I am not saying that these 2 types of sites should be defaced, I am - - saying that it serves in my mind as a justice for them to be defaced. - - I mean think about it, chances are that the average defacement takes - - please do to hostility or anger between people/crews, and the second - - reason is because in the morning, when they pull up the latest in - - underground news, their defacement is going to be smack dab on the - - site like a cheap advertisement. It comes down to having a freedom of - - choice, but I can guarantee that The Datacore will never host mirrors - - of hacked sites. To the rest of the underground community, I support - - whatever you decide, I don't believe judgement should come from 1 - - issue and frankly I don't think judgement is good to pass at all, - - only to offer opinions. No, I don't think it's right to mirror the - - defaced pages but hey, to each his own! If you want to mirror them, - - then good luck. I strongly believe however, that if we stopped - - announcing defaced sites like some kind of 4th of July bash, that the - - number of defacements would go down. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Comments? Questions?
